Badge of Justice

BadgecardIt doesn't appear to have reached the UK yet, but if you play in your local clubs World of Warcraft Battlegrounds Tournaments, then you should start to see the card illustrated on the left.

Each week, players who finish in the top 4 at their Battlegrounds will receive a Badge of Justice. There will be an additional card available to the person voted to receive the "Best Sportsmanship" award.

That sounds all well and good, but what use is a Badge of Justice?

The answer is that they can be use to redeem for playable cards (like the crafting scheme).....

The New Face of Druid

Taheo_skyspeakerI've been playing a new deck since half way through January.

Like a lot of players at the moment, I've been playing around with Druid. But rather than experimenting with new variants of the Telrander cat deck, or one of the Moonkin or Bear decks that have been doing the rounds recently, I've concentrated on Druids other abilities rather than concentrating on form.

As you can see from the image, I'm actually playing a Balance Druid.

After looking at the various Balance Druids now available, I chose Taheo Skyspeaker. Its flip only costs 4 resources to use, and is quite flexible. If I desperately need to do some direct damage, then the flip will deal 3 nature damage to either an ally or a hero. Alternatively, if I just need to live a little longer, then the flip can heal 6 damage from either a hero or ally. The only disadvantage is that you can only use the ability on your own turn.

On to the deck list.

When is a regional not a regional?

When is a regional tournament not a regional tournament? When its a group qualifier.

If you haven't heard, there is a new championship coming to the UK

So, what is the difference between a regional tournament and a group qualifier?

The answer seems to be - very little. Its just a different route to get to the world championships.

Spectral Safari comes to the UK

Spectral_tiger The Spectral Safari is coming to the UK.

Eight tournaments are being held in the UK and Ireland and the prize for the winner is a Spectral Tiger Loot card.

If you are a player of the online World of Warcraft game, you can use the code on the card to get a very special mount in the game.

If you don't play the online game, then these cards regularly sell on ebay for about £350.

So what's the catch?

Manchester Regional - 8th December 2007

Fanboy3 This is my write up of my experience at last weekends Manchester Regional. It looks like Manchester probably gets more of the UK's highest ranked constructed players at its tournaments, so this should be a hard battle and a good indication of where decks are heading now Legion is tournament legal. In total 15 (fairly) local players took part, and the split of decks was as follows:

Daniel Fan - Kana Nassis
Lee Holdsworth - Rotun Daggerhand
Sam Gibbs - Telrander
Andrew Lam - Ta'zo
Ben Blackwell - Ta'zo
Ross Silcock - Kana Nassis
Alex Marsden - Morova of the Sands
Jeff Cook - Kintara Wintermoon
Ben Davies - Phadalus the Enlightened
Mike Brawn - Deacon Markus Hallow
Thomas Greenhalg - Omedus the Punisher
Neil Riley - Omedus the Punisher
Sam Wilkes - Mazar
Richard McPhail - Ozzati
Kevin Pack - Phadalus the Enlightened

Deck Design - Phadalus

Phadalus Last weekend saw me take part in my second round of regional tournaments. On Saturday at Fan Boy 3 in Manchester and on Sunday at Phoenix Games in Leicester.

After playing around with a few deck ideas I decided to settle on an Alliance Shaman build and, to my mind, Phadalus has the best Alliance Shaman ability.

So I got up early on Saturday morning and threw a deck together.

Unfortunately I must have been half asleep as there were a few things with the deck that were clearly wrong, so when I got home after the tournament I decided to fix the deck ahead of my trip to Leicester on Sunday morning.

Sheffield Regional

PatriotgamesI intend to write up my experiences from playing in the various tournaments around the UK. So I'm starting with my experience at the first regional I played this season.

I was rather worried that there wouldn't be enough people there to make the tournament run, after I went over for the Legion pre-release and only three of us turned up. So I had been talking about the event at FB3 and tried to drum up a few more people to travel across and take part. Unfortunately a few people were busy that weekend, and another couple stayed up all night following the world championship, so missed their lift in the morning.

Qualifying Deck - Nathadan

NathadanMy first exposure to this seasons Warcraft regional tournaments was at Sheffield, and I knew the environment was going to be a bit odd.

March of the Legion cards wouldn't be legal, but we would be able to add cards from the Feast of Winter Veil.

I finished last seasons regionals with a very successful Paladin rush deck built around the hero Nimaasus the Implacable, so I decided to start this season with a new Paladin rush deck. But Horde is the current king of speed, so I changed my allegiance from Alliance to Horde, while at the same time moving from retribution to protection (so as to use the lovely protection abilities).

This meant that I had a choice of one hero - Nathadan.
